Saturday I had the distinct privilege of attending the graduation of one of our AQUAS scholar athletes from Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, PA. Jeanette Berlanga accomplished the unbelievable task of going 2000 miles from home, leaving her loving family of Mom and three siblings, and matriculating at a high academic institution where she knew no one. Through grit and determination and always keeping the prize of a college diploma in sight Jeanette overcame, against all odds, and graduated in 4 years with a BA in Government. The impression that she made on the students and faculty of this renowned institution is evidenced by the F&M president that requested permission to include Jeanette’s story in the book that he is writing and the gesture that the college has made by sponsoring her on a trip to Africa which she left on today. She has set law school as her next goal. We have not heard the last from this young woman. AQUAS Is so proud.
