FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
FEAST Basketball Star From Family of 13 Selected by AQUAS

San Antonio, Texas – June 18, 2018 – Seth Sabo a home-schooled student from a family in which there are 11 children, has been selected as the 48th scholar athlete to be enrolled in the AQUAS program. Sabo a junior basketball player is determined to earn his college degree in engineering. This is the first time AQUAS has had an application from a FEAST student and the Selection Committee was impressed with the young man that came before them.

The Family Educators Alliance of South Texas (FEAST) is a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting homeschool families.  They strive to serve, honor, and glorify God through their year-round services that are designed to promote, assist, and inform the homeschool community in the South Texas Region.

AQUAS is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization that is identifying underprivileged high school athletes who have demonstrated high academic performance. The main thrust of AQUAS is academic and the organization’s primary goal is for qualified students to have the opportunity to earn their college diploma.  Their athletic prowess may earn them additional scholarship money at different schools but it is the academic record of performance that will result in the most assistance. These students may not have received much national athletic visibility for a number of reasons; thus college coaches are not aware of their skills.  AQUAS overcomes that problem as it puts these selected students in front of collegiate athletic departments until the right academic and athletic matches are found and some financial support from the gaining university has been secured.

This past season, as a junior, Sabo averaged 15 points a game but had a season-high of 28 points while playing for FEAST. He is currently playing AAU ball with the highly touted SA Dynasty. Their coach, Daryl Vincent, sees great potential in this young man and looks for him to have a great season this year. While primarily a shooting guard, Sabo has time at all positions on the basketball floor.

Growing up in a family where there are 11 children and you are expected to excel academically is not an easy task. The emphasis in the Sabo family has been on service to God and family. The belief is that you need to be all that you can be and Seth’s goal of becoming an engineer has become a goal that he plans to make a reality. A job, chores at home and setting an example for his younger siblings have shaped this young man into a solid, mature person. He has a 3.8 GPA because of dedicated study habits but has budgeted his time so that he still can give back to the community by working with several charitable organizations.

COL Hugh F. Mulligan, founder and CEO of AQUAS, says that Sabo’s strong family infrastructure has been an important element in his success to date, both academically and athletically. Mulligan notes, “The energetic role exhibited by the mother, Candace, is amazing. She homeschools nine children and yet stays organized in such a way that the family functions as a unit. Nothing will get by this remarkable woman and her attention to detail in all that she does provides immeasurable help to her children”.
