AQUAS Director

Mr. Hammond has been an officer and executive in biotech, diagnostic and medical device companies for more than 30 years, including Abbott Diagnostics, Roche Diagnostics, Biosite, Inc., and Alere, Inc.

Mr. Hammond joined the board of AQUAS because he is committed to assisting high school kids who want to make a difference but are constrained by their family’s financial situation. There are many financially challenged high school kids who are athletically and academically qualified for but do not get a chance to compete for a college education. This is a primary problem with lower socio-economic families in gaining an opportunity to achieve the American Dream. Mr. Hammond said, “Col. Mulligan recognized this issue and has been the principle driver for change in San Antonio and nation-at-large”

Additionally, Mr. Hammond said, “These young women and men are qualified and equally deserving of a chance to compete for a college education and the access to the American Dream as any other child from an affluent family. What they achieve is completely because they are willing to strive and sacrifice for their families, their communities, themselves, and their beliefs.”
Mr. Hammond holds a B.A. in Economics from Bucknell University, Lewisburg, PA. He resides in San Antonio, TX with his wife Wendy. They have been married 32 years and have four adult daughters.
